Are there more robust meshes available?

There's no such thing as a totally indestructible fly screen, however you can purchase screen mesh made from other materials such as copper and even stainless steel. These however are usually more difficult to fit and are more expensive to purchase. If it's protection you're after then you might want to install an aluminium grill over a standard fly screen as this is easily achieved.
